Issues installing SMAPI

I got Stardew on my PC a couple days ago, specifically because I wanted to mod it, but I've been having a continuous with installing SMAPI. I've gone through all the steps, I've opened the game before attempting install, unzipped the file, even tried to do it manually, but I just can't get it to work. I've looked over others having issues with installation, but they all seem to be having slightly different issues, so I've gotten nowhere.

I keep getting the error message "system cannot find path specified", and I'm unable to add any sort of path due to the fact that pressing any key closes the window, so I'm kind of stumped. Can anyone help?

Can you provide any more info? Like where you got SDV, and a pic of the game files folder.

Odd that it crashes before letting you type in a path. Though, it sounds like the path was already added.

Can you delete your current SMAPI installer folder, and download a fresh zip from the main site: https://smapi.io/
Then re-run through the steps again: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Installing_SMAPI_on_Windows

You may also want to verify you at least have Dotnet 5.0 or higher: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet

I have it on steam and I'll put a screenshot below, I've redownloaded SMAPI a couple times already. But I don't know .NET is, which may be the problem, I never saw it in any tutorial?

Thanks, though it looks like the path is cropped out. Can you show one with the path? If it's non-standard, SMAPI may have trouble finding it.
But, from the files; you don't seem to be on the Compatibility Branch. Which is good; that branch doesn't work with mods.

You mentioned trying a manual install earlier, but I'm not seeing any of the old files. Is this a fresh install of SDV?

I don't think so? As I said, I got it a couple days ago, but I have played it since then.

Regardless, I tried the manual install one more time and I think it worked (I am not well versed enough to understand what the heck my computer is doing, but some things popped up when I launched the game in reference to SMAPI, so I presume it worked), thank you for the help!
