I know you have to mine rocks and such to look for it but that takes time and energy and I need to get to lower levels faster is there a secret or a way to find the latter faster or not?

If you can craft bombs, they'll speed things along. You can also craft starcases early on but that does take a lot of stone in early game.

Bombs (Cherry Bomb, Bomb, Mega Bomb) will clear many Rocks at once and are the fastest way to find Ladders.
If you don't have access to Bombs yet or they're too expensive, killing Monsters also gives a chance to find Ladders.
You can also craft Ladders from 99 Stone each which saves loads of time, but that's also expensive.
You can buy Ladders from the Desert Trader for 5 Quartz each, and many people (like me!) set up Crystalariums to duplicate Quartz. You get 5 Quartz every 2-3 days so not too bad.

Adding a Perfect Magic Quiver Trinket and pairing it with a Napalm Ring (from killing lots of serpents reward), makes descending much faster! Enemies are damaged and pushed back frequently, most of the times against rocks... And they explode upon death, much like a small cherry bomb substitute!
Only downside is, explosions can destroy useful items (such as mushrooms and quartz).

psst, small correction: Bombs are 5 quartz from the Desert Trader, staircases (the placeable ladders... why are they called staircases anyway?) are 1 jade available on Sundays.
You're also slightly more likely to find ladders naturally if daily luck is higher, and if you have a luck buff.

Yes I duplicate Jades in the Crystalariums to trade for Ladders first and Quartz to trade for for Bombs later on. Better speed at least as Jade duplicates in just under 2 days whereas it's 2-3 days for 5 Quartz unless you babysit the Quartz where you can get 5 in just under 2 days.

I don't babysit my quartz crystallarium, but I put it next to my front door, so I often get two quartz a day just because it's there to grab.
