Installing SMAPI on Android

I'm using a Samsung Tab S6, with Android version 13. I've had Stardew Valley installed for a couple of months, and my kids love it. Now they want to try out some mods. The SV Wiki says:
  • Download the latest installer APK file (the file under "Assets" that ends with .apk).
  • Install the APK on your phone.
  • Run the new app to install SMAPI. This may take a while depending on your device (e.g., 21s on a Samsung Galaxy S10, and 1 minute 13s on a Samsung Galaxy S6).
I've successfully completed the first two steps - I do have the SMAPI installer installed on my Android Phone. When I run it, I don't see any indication that it's installing SMAPI itself. I just get an app that offers a menu with four options: Config, Download, Help, and About. Since I installed Stardew Valley using the Amazon App Store, I downloaded the corresponding COMPAT package. The Help tab took me to NEXUS where I downloaded one of the mods my kids want to try. I couldn't find any option to install anything, and when I exited the app, my system did not have SMAPI installed. What do I need to do next?

I have SDV on three platforms, the xBox, my pc laptop and my android tablet. I just recently started playing the expanded version of the game on my laptop and love it. I just had to do an update and noticed that there is an Android version of Smapi, so hoping to try and install it on my tablet, but can't find much information about this online tbh and everything I do find says 'mobile' rather than tablet, so not sure if its possible or not. Going to give it a go though.
