Dumb little thing I wrote in honor of the "every gift is a loved gift" glitch currently on switches.
It was a beautiful day. The sun was warm on Sam’s back, and for once the pollen had died down. He sighed contentedly.
“Sam!”
He looked up. The call had come from the farmer, who was running towards him with a grin, and for some inexplicable reason, a stick held above her head.
He waved back awkwardly. The farmer was nice, but a little strange. She ran everywhere and always smelled like slime guts, which was pretty gross.
“Hey, farmer,” he said amicably as she ran over.
“Hi--ahh!”
Sam saw her fall in slow motion, watched her trip over the rock lying in the grass, and lurched forward, shoving the stick into his hand.
Sam looked at the stick. He looked at the farmer. The farmer’s face paled. “Oh no, I didn’t mean…”
“Aw, yea! This is my absolute favorite!”
The farmer looked startled. “Umm..”
“Oh, this is so cool! Thanks, farmer!”
She nodded and slowly backed away, but Sam was too busy staring at his stick to care.
“What an awesome stick,” he thought to himself as he walked down the road. Up ahead, he saw a familiar head of black hair.
“Hey, Seb! Come look at this awesome stick the farmer gave me!”
Sebastian looked up in surprise.
“No way! The farmer gave me an awesome stick!”
“Wow! That farmer is pretty cool,” Sam responded with a nod.
They tapped sticks in a sort of salute and continued on. Hidden in the bushes, the farmer looked very weirded out.
