Hello! I am a long time Stardew fan and this is my first post to the forums. I'm not exactly sure how things work around here, and you probably get a bunch of threads like this one, but what the heck.
So here are just a few ideas to add to the game. The game itself is perfect, I do not want to say "Make the game better" because it is amazing, but these are just some cool ideas that would just add more to the game.
1. Cooking
Wouldn't it be cool to have a cooking mini game? Similar to the fishing one, but different enough? Personally I have always wanted cooking to be a skill you can level up, because other than gifts or quests, there is no real reason to cook. Sure you can cook to make food for the mines, but I find it much more cost efficient to go but something from the saloon.
What if cooking was levelable skill? Maybe the Jojamart sold more cooking ingredients than Pierre? (I hate Morris just as much as the next guy, but I honestly think the Joja mart needs a better purpose than just being a heartless company.)
Maybe the higher in levels with cooking you get, the easier the mini game gets, or maybe at a festival yoy can have a cook-off with Gus, or maybe you can help Gus at the saloon or something, honestly, this is just some wishing.
2. The Profits from Other Professions
Let's face it, farming is the best profession. It makes the most money, its the most iconic, its the easiest (in my opinion) to level up, its the first thing you do in the game, and its going to be the last thing you do in the game.
Sure fishing can rack up a decent profit, but all the others fall flat. Mining barely makes any money, foraging barely makes any money (but I will give it a pass for the wood collection path), and combat pretty much does nothing.
I feel there should be more ways to make money in the different paths, maybe the higher in mining you get, the more valuable gems are, maybe just give fish prices a buff (then again the fish pond does exist, so I kind of excuse fishing), maybe make monster loot more valuable, or make combat more of a needed skill.
Honestly, the game is amazing, but my biggest issue is combat, I honestly feel like it has no purpose but to craft some items in the mines. In late game there is not really that big of a reason to go into the mines or slull cavern. Unless its the occasional quest, you don't have a need to.
I feel that all of the other professions to need a buff because farming, while being the most iconic skill, is too good.
3. Dance of the Moonlight Jellies update pls
I love the Stardew festivals, each one provides something fun to do and is always something I look forward to... except the Moonlight Jellies. I do not get why it is an event. It's pretty, it's good for world building, but other than that there isn't a point to having this festival. There's no shops, or games, or anything to do.
4. City DLC
Ok, so we are told that there is a bigger city outside of Pelican Town, and I want to see it. Now the reason I say this should be a dlc, is because this really doesn't fit the base game too much, and is probably a huge expansion. I do not have too much to add to this, but I think it would be a good dlc idea.
And those are just some ideas I think would fit the game, again, my first post here. I love this game, it is honestly a perfect game. Happy gaming!
