A person who carries things. George wouldn't really be of any use that much in an underground setting IMO, especially with his cranky personality and, to put it mildy, a very noticeable and detrimental disability. He could be good at holding the tools for the other villagers if what you're saying is what role he would fit in an underground world or operation.

On the other hand, George and Evelyn would be above suspicion for a lot of things, and could have specialist doctors appointments as a cover for travel...
