I lost the war memento (IOS). My chest was in a walking path. It’s gone.

I accidentally put my chest in a walking path and lost my war memento and tho chest is gone. It’s not in the lost and found. I was able to find a suggestion to get a chicken from Marnie and naming it [864] and that worked but Kent reacted at it as a hated gift. I reset the day and have the war memento but don’t know what to do now.

If what you have is the one you got from Birdie, it should be fine to give it to Kent. If it's the one from Marnie, you should be able to find the previous day's save file in Files/On My Phone/Stardew Valley/{farmname}. Rename the current file, and then rename the old one to remove the OLD flag.

It’s the one I got from Marnie. I don’t have the previous day’s save. I just keep playing the same file.

How many days have you played since it’s been destroyed? The one from Marnie won’t work. If it’s been destroyed the day before, do what @Maher suggested.
if not, you can check if the original appeared in any of your chests, fridges, or with Marlon.
If it’s nowhere, you’ll have to edit the save file and restart the quest. Please make a back up and put it in a save place before tampering with the file.

You should just be able to back to previous save until you have it again and not put it in the chest. You'll lose progress but if you.want to compete the quest that may be the only thing you can do.

I think the problem with just letting Marnie speak the item into being is that there's more to an inventory item than just its ID. There are some additional attributes. If you look at some of the more detailed discussions of the item number hack on the wiki, you will find these enumerated. I think there is even a list of items and their attributes. If you can get those attributes for the War Memento and add it to the inventory item in the XML file, you may be able to get Kent to accept it.

And if you find an iOS xml editor that handles an SDW save file with anything like ease, let me know.

Are you sure you've searched every chest, fridge, auto grabber, junimo hut? Similar to losing your watering can, it should zap back to an available storage slot.

Could it be in Lewis' Lost and Found? I've never checked for anything in there but I hear people mention it from time to time. I really should have a look at that to familiarize myself with it.

Not quite true. Everything is dropped on the ground. However, if you don't collect that stuff before you end the day the chest is destroyed, that's when you lose the stuff in the chest.
