How to play my own character with friends save.

A friend was hosting a game and he didnt want to play anymore, but i wanted to continue the save,
he transferred the save to me, now i have the save on my computer, but when i load into the save, i play
as his character and not my own.

Is there a way to play my own character with someone else's save?

Unfortunately, you can't just have your farmhand take over the farm. You can have his character sleep through the days to only play as your own, but you'll need to log onto it at least twice each day (to put the farmer to bed and then to acknowledge the end of day). You will also need their farmer to attend any festivals that take over a space (like the luau or egg festival, not the night market or desert festival) as they don't start until all players have entered the area.

Technically what retrogeekery is saying is true, without save editing it really isn't possible to swap the characters fully.

That being said, you can just give all your items to the friends character, divorce anyone you've married so the option is open to them, etc.
Then change your name on that main character and there won't be that many differences between your characters, mostly just collections/skills/friendships that are all possible to easily get back in some time.

It's not a perfect fix but it's workable

No problem, if I run into a way to actually do an easy swap of characters (with ideally as little save editing as possible), then I'll let you know

It could theoretically be as easy as swapping a single file and maybe editing a multiplayer id(?), but I've never gone about doing it myself
