How to open the chat box in mobile version?

Hi guys,

I am a new player to this game, I can't open this box below in my ipad, but my friends in PC can hit the key "T" to open this, so I can't chat with them, but I can saw their message, please help!!!

Try tapping the date box

Forgot if that's something automatic, otherwise you need to edit your save file to allow for 'chat cheats' (set it to true, and you can do the same thing to open it and chat)
