How to Gain Access to Qi's Walnut Room

Okay, I feel like kind of a dunce here. I am definitely missing something which, likely, I am just overlooking.

From all the help I have gleaned from spending hours searching and reading different websites (and thank goodness for all that or my goose would have been cooked from the get-go on Ginger Island),
there are 130 total golden walnuts that can be collected. It costs 100 golden walnuts (gw) to access Qi's Room, which leaves only 30 for everything else.

Accessing Qi's room therefore seems to be impossible. I had to spend over 30 gw's just to access all the different areas of the island (not to mention 20 just to buy the simple, cheapy farmhouse.

What am I missing?

You don't spend the Walnuts to enter Qi's room, instead the total number you find is the indicator of whether you're worthy of entrance. Once you find 100 Walnuts, the curtain on his nefarious scheme will be drawn back.

Also, to reassure you, it is literally impossible to soft-lock yourself on Ginger Island. There are more walnuts than you need to spend to unlock everything that the parrots will unlock for you. Once you have done that, the leftover golden walnuts can be sold to Qi in his Walnut Room. (He doesn't deal in G like the rest of us, though, because he's either an alien or a fairy or something.)
