iOS How to exit game from title screen?

Hello, I just played Stardew Valley for the first time on my iPad Pro.
When I was ready to quit, I saved and exited to the title screen. Then I could not find a way to exit out to my home screen.
Swiping up from the bottom of the screen is the usual way of exiting out to my home screen or switching to another app. With Stardew Valley, swiping up from the bottom of the screen doesn't do anything.
Luckily, I had some unopened notifications, so I was able to get out by swiping down from the top and clicking on a notification. But I may not always have notifications.

What is the normal way to exit from the Stardew Valley to the home screen, on an iPad Pro?

On an iPad swiping up from the bottom is the way to close it, but there's a feel to getting it to work. After tapping Exit to Title, swipe up just a little (about 1/3 of the screen) and hold it so you can see the app minimized on your home screen. From there, let go and swipe up again to close it. If you initially swipe to the top of the screen, it won't close SDV.

Some iPad keyboard cases have a home screen function button to let you see which apps are open. If you have one of those, it's easy to close it from the home screen.
