How the **** is it taking so long for 1.6 to be on switch

I haven’t played for 2/3 months because I can’t find any golden coconuts and farming is sorta borning, and i have a wife, so I put away the switch and wait for 1.6 for so,so long, the start of truly waiting was like February or march or smmt I thought it would be a month or something before 1.6 on switch, cuz it’s only switching uo buttons right? But it feels like 6ish months tbh do the switch mobile people get special features or smmt? Why so long?????? And don’t say “making a game is hard” he’s already made it on pc.

While it is taking a while, there are legitimate reasons for that length. A game on pc is entirely different from a console game. It is NOT just switching buttons. Every system does things differently, so a different platform might require an entirely different code, method, or even coding language. This, in turn, results in developers having to redo or recode already existing code from scratch to fit the new system, or spend hours on bugs that only occur on that system. Porting a game requires immense amounts of energy, and for this reason many indie developers chose not too. ConcernedApe is an amazing person for even being willing to put this game on so many platforms. Even working hard, it is absolutely possible that it takes this long or longer, because even if you have "already made the game" porting takes a long time, and we should hope that comcerned ape wants to take his time and make sure the port is done right, rather than forcing out a buggy, corrupted port quickly.
TLDR; porting is hard, and takes a long time, because every system requires it's own stuff, and we shouldnt hate on devs for not doing it fast enough when they could chose not to so it at all. We are not the devs. We do not understand what actually is getting done and why that requires so much time. They do.

First off, it's a small team doing this, CA is working on the mobile port while he has a team work on the new 1.6.9 update which will add quite a few features and adjustments to the game. It is better this takes longer to be implemented, as to be as thorough as possible, releasing constant small bug fixes for consoles isn't as easy as it is on pc.

The console release is most likely completed (to this point regarding content), though is waiting on these things to also be done, as to release them all in succession and the mobile and console ports at once.

Last time we had them released at different times, there was more and more hate directed at the developers from the mobile community, so long as both ports are being worked on together, this minimizes it, though people like you aren't spreading positivity or being constructive in your criticism.

To top it all off, this is a free update for a game that has continued to pump out content for nearly a decade. Any of these updates could be monetized as DLCs or in some other form but they aren't, they're free, and released on the creators discretion as he's making them on his own time. It's better to be positive about our worries or thoughts on this update because nothing you do will do anything, undue hate may even slow down the progress being made each day.

Setting aside mobile platforms, one thing to keep in mind is that the update isn't just coming to the Switch, but also Xbox and PlayStation. The same team at Sickhead Games (who handle the console ports) needs to bring all of the 1.6 changes to 3 different console platforms, each of which can bring unique challenges.

me, i'm waiting for xbox. my military injury to left hand makes pc difficult but i like it anyway. need to get a controller for the pc and enjoy stardew valley just like the xbox.
You should be able to hook up your Xbox controller to your PC! Give it a try, you just have to set it up. Mine used a Bluetooth connection. It's great for those of us who aren't good with keyboard and mouse controls.

^^ (I agree with the commenters I quoted)

THESE UPDATES ARE FREE.

Not being rude at all, but everyone has to wait for these updates to be ported. You can be upset all you want 3729goldencoconuts , but it isn't going to increase the update speed/process just because you want it to. If anything, it just spreads more negativity towards the game.

100%, better to give off good vibes that support the process and encourage others to also be positive

Mr Qi and Grandpa are scared of their true identity and shady characters being discovered so they are holding Ape’s wife in hostage and forcing him to rewrite all of Stardew lore as we know it.

But seriously it’s likely not him or his now team, but the various mega million companies and who are wishing to purchase his game for their platforms. We love Stardew very much and it’s had great success throughout its run, but it’s not THE most popular of all the games out there or the most currently played games as of today. It’s older, still great, still popular, but still older. The biggest moneymakers always get top priority with these companies (Nintendo, Apple, etc.) and what will sell the most profitable games that make the most ongoing income. Always. Ape is cool. No upgrade fees, no in app purchases. Once per platform period. These companies like in app purchases and updates because they make THE company purchasing the game additional funds, not just the delves of those games. That’s my best guess. 🤷‍♀️

Personally, I haven't completed my 100% item collection yet. Still missing a bunch, Dragontooth Club, etc. 1.6 adds a metric crapload of new items. I'm happy for now.
Once I obtain EVERY POSSIBLE ITEM on my playstation though, and 1.6 still isn't out... I'll be... like... probly getting a different game until 1.6 drops lol
In short, they can take as much time as they want. Have you gotten every item? That's what I thought.

I've gotten every item you can possibly think of from 1.5... anything you could name... including dragontooth club... including sam's boombox... including the living hat.... OTHER than the work boots...
