How much iridium/gold do you need?

Am I missing something? I don’t go into skull caverns and I think I have plenty of gold and iridium. I get uneasy when I read that people are having trouble getting these ores,

Depends on what you are doing.

Right now, I'm building more crystalariums just as part of my end-game profit generation on the side, but that takes lots of gold/iridium. Each crystalarium requires five gold bars and two iridium bars, but I can gain iridium ore in Skull Cavern at like twice the rate I can gather gold ore anywhere, so it ends up being my bottleneck lol (even the batteries aren't so bad with solar panels now, it really is just the gold! Which is fine, it's ultimately got to be something).

This is for filling up sheds/the quarry/whatever crazy end game project you want to pursue. Not mandatory at all, but fun for watching profit go brrrr.

If you're happy with what you've got, no need to sweat it. This is definitely the point in the game where I typically start to feel like I am turning into Joja myself and start getting tempted by a new farm for a reset, so if you're having fun otherwise then no need to expand.

I'm super curious how you got 91 crystalariums' worth of iridium without going into Skull Caverns (also curious what you're using those jades for, since you're presumably not using tons of staircases), but yeah, if you feel like you have enough then you have enough. It's not like there's some special hidden thing you have to do with them (well, I guess you need a few for the thing Willy has after you complete the community center, but that's not really hidden). Usually I just craft a couple iridium bands, however many sprinklers I want, and a few dozen crystalariums, and then I start selling iridium. I guess there's also deluxe fertilizer now that can be useful for stuff that's not being processed.

I am running 91 crystalariums producing diamonds and 13 making jade. Is that enough?
If you think it is enough, it's enough. If you want more, make more. It's your farm, mate. 😉

Me, on my 4-corners? 132 doing diamonds, 12 doing jade, 60 statues of endless fortune (helps get iridium and gold for crystalariums which gets money for more statues). This save is on pause mostly (have already achieved perfection) while I play my beach farm, but when I get back to it I am going to start a new shed to fill with another 132 diamond crystalariums. I mean, this was building up to this, but at this point, it's not like I need anything... and like @Salty1 said, it's just to see how high a speed I can crank my money printer up to, you know? (This save has over 80M total earnings.)

I, like @Elenna101, am curious what you're doing with all that jade, though, if you don't go to the skull caverns. The only reason I have jade crystalariums is for staircases for the skull cavern.

I got the iridium from 3 sources:
1. The statue that grandpa gives you
2. magma geodes—initially from mining and then from my lave eel ponds. With 27 ponds I sometimes get 50 geodes a day. I was taking hundreds of geodes to Clint each week. Now I just sell the geodes
3. the occasional node in the quarry and the mines

I Do not have a statue of endless fortune.

I use staircases in regular mining. I am also stockpiling them for a rainy day.

Oh, right, forgot Grandpa's statue existed. Yeah, if you have that you shouldn't have any problems getting iridium, you really don't need that much for most playstyles.

The Statue of Endless Fortune you can buy at the casino gives you either a diamond, iridium or gold bar, omni geode or someone's birthday gift. And Grandpa's statues gives you the ore.
In my newest playthrough the moment I got a crystalarium in the community bundle I already started producing diamonds, same with the one I got from the museum, so there's already 2 crystalariums for "free".

I’m making probably about 25000-30000 crystalariums for funsies so that’s what I need gold and iridium for.

gold is relatively easy as I can buy it for a total of 450000000G.
Iridium is harder but I’m thinking a couple thousand SoEF, with two thousand I can get the iridium needed in 96 non birthdays which is a bit over a year counting birthdays.
Batteries aren’t too bad, I already have 6000-7000 from getting magic rock candy when I was making coops off of 160 or so solar panels.
Stone is an absolute pain but not hard per se, just a lot of deconstructors, already have 30 or something.
I could buy the stone but that’s hours of my life just buying stone.

Depending on your gameplay, you may not need much iridium.
I usually use only the crystalarium from the community center bundle, for jade for skull cavern stairs. I think at most I had 4, doing jade for stairs, diamonds for Jodi and Marnie, and amethyst for Abigail Clint Emily and the dwarf. I just have never played that way, although I might sometime. I don't really minmax. I minmin, hahaha!
I always use iridium for the wizard's mail request, to upgrade my pickaxe and axe, and craft the iridium band.
Sometimes sprinklers but usually I buy from Krobus. Sometimes the warp totem recipe, but I usually just take the bus.
You can sew a shirt with an ore and breastplate with a bar. The ore is excellent slingshot ammo. You need bars for obelisks, and bars are loved gifts for Clint Maru Krobus & Willy.
And Willy asks for 5 bars.
To complete perfection you'd need enough iridium for a slime incubator, hopper, etc.
