How many in-game hours does a full farm day actually take in real life?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been getting back into Stardew lately and trying to better pace myself with each in-game day. I usually end up playing way longer than I planned ⏰

Just out of curiosity — how long does a full in-game day (6:00 AM to 2:00 AM) take you in real time if you're playing at a regular pace? I feel like I burn 15–20 minutes per day, especially if I’m watering, mining, or running around town.

Is there a general average, or do you all try to speedrun through days when you're just grinding? Would love to hear how others handle “hour” management in the game.

Thanks!

I think its about 20 minutes or so? Try put a stopwatch on right when you start the day, then keeping it on till 2:00 am. You will be safe, as long as you are in your house, from losing money and/or items.

Hii! A full day in game ( from 6AM to 2AM ) is equal to 14 minutes so I guess if you go to sleep after your energy ends a day might be around 10 minutes long (: . a Full week in game is equal to 1 hour and 38 minutes and whole season is 6 hours and 32 minutes. I got those informations from stv wiki!!

Each time you open your inventory or eat the game clock pauses, though, so you can go longer.

It depends, without any pausing, load screens, entering new maps, any animations that cause the game pause every single 10 minute interval is 7 seconds (7 x 6 x 20 = 840 seconds or 14 minutes), or 9 seconds in skull cavern (9 x 6 x 20 = 1080 seconds or 18 minutes).

In reality you're going to be doing stuff like eating food, using any pause menus (menu/crafting and collection screens/journal/map/etc.), entering alternate interfaces (shops/slot machine/questboards/etc.), talking to npcs, doing minigames, and more which all take additional time which adds up considerably. The game also only counts some of these for some reason which leads to actual playtime usually being a fair bit over the counted playtime given in game, though it depends on which things you're doing.

Inversely, you can also speed up how fast you go through the game, by sleeping before 2am and not spending full days worth of time in festivals, though generally so long as you're sleeping after like 7-8pm every day then they don't really balance out and you'll still take longer than the roughly 26 hours for a year.

For example, I have a file that's at midsummer and I already have close to 50 hours on it, due to my abusing the casino a lot for a challenge, and on the other end I have a file past year 250 which only has a yearly average playtime of a little under 6 hours as I've dayskipped a large chunk of the time played, so it really depends on what you're up to.

Now pretend we were talking about how long these chores would actually take irl to accomplish it would paint a whole separate picture. Imagine how long it would take and the risks involved in felling a single tree. Or hand milking twelve cows. Gathering Eggs from 12 cranky chickens. Hand watering 100 crops, crawling on your belly through abandoned mines just hoping they don’t cave in for your few ores required for your precious machines to make life just a little easier when suddenly attacked by a hoard of monsters out of some sick fairytale lol. You may not get out alive. That health bar could end in death. Stardew makes it look like a breeze compared to irl farming.

One more task that stops time -- fishing. The time stops during the fishing minigame. I think someone said that it takes around 20 minutes for an in-game day.
