Holly is described by the game as a "popular winter decoration." This description encourages players to give it as a gift, expecting that something popular would be, well... popular. I tried giving it to 2 random villagers who both reacted unpleasantly. Wiki says most villagers hate holly or dislike it.

I suggest you either 1) Change holly's description OR 2) Change its popularity as a gift.

We shouldn't fall for lies of such. We shall rise and revolt against the addition of this so called "Holly". More like Dumbolly, who chose this? Why did we need this? Why? Wh- WHY?

Yeah, never thought about that, but now it does seem weird. I tried to search about negative associations with it, and the plant is poisonous, and is believed by some to bring bad luck, so maybe that has something to do with it? There are three people who like it: Leah, Linus (who would probably forage it themselves) and Harvey. Harvey could like it because tea from it is said to have some medical properties, but I'm really unsure here

Yeah, that's a good question. I use it for tailoring and dyeing, makes a nice red colour. But it would be nice to make your own decorations with it, something like a bigger Light String maybe, for doors e.g.

Maybe make it like the jack-o'-lantern where you buy the crafting recipe from Pierre on the feast of the winter star. And yeah, more outdoor decorations would be great.

Maybe it should be liked by most only in winter cuz it's a "popular winter decoration"?


Well that means (some) gifts are season depending.... I am not sure if most players would like this.
On the other hand, it would make gifting more interesting!
