i just installed SMAPI but do i put the unzipped mod in the mods folder? Also when i try to "open stardew valley with the StardewModdingAPI.exe" it goes to smapi and does nothing

Uhhhhh If your trying to open by steam you could try opening it by going to the direct file?
It should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley
