PC [HELP] Split screen advice needed

Hello,
My sister and I have gone through a lot of 'how to set up a co-op' but can't seem to get our split screen working. We both have Stardew on our Steam accounts for PC windows, and are trying to co-op & split screen so we can see what the other is doing.
Any advice?

Well, you only need one computer for that, so you don't both need a copy on your respective PCs. Do you have a controller so that you can both play on one PC?

Yeah split screen is just a different kind of co-op, on the same computer. Did you need advice on getting a regular co-op running as well?

Ah! We misunderstood - we thought it was through different computers. We'll get controllers :)

Okay. So I came here because I have a similar question. I want to be able to play from a distance with my friend and see what they're doing via split screen.. so couch co-op mode but from two different places. Is that a thing?
