Windows [HELP] Frame Rates Dropping & Random Performance Spikes

Hello,

So I've seen several older posts on this in the past, including many fixes people have said work, but none have worked for me.

The game suddenly today started dropping horrible frame rates randomly, then works fine, then drops horribly, etc. (see task manager). It doesn't do this in any kind of consistent interval. I have left the farm and still had frame drops in other locations. (including just running back and forth in Clint's shop). I have not made any large changes to my farm since the game started doing this. I was about 8 days into year 5 Spring, and suddenly this issue started happening, and has persisted through the 14th. (I was not playing full days, I was hoping time passing would change something that maybe was draining resources). This problem happened about a month ago, and fixed itself after a couple days when I was going to sit down and try to figure it out, after a month it has obviously returned.

So far I have tried:
Changing priority and affinity in task manager.
Verifying the game via Steam
Reinstalling the game
I don't have any recyclers running on my farm (saw a post saying this was a thing?)
Rebooted my PC
Turned off every other background program

You can try to limit FPS for Stardew Valley to ~60 in nvidia control panel and see how it goes
"Max Frame Rate":

Hello,
Are you playing with a gamepad?
The fix that finally worked for me was to take the batteries out of my Xbox one controller and use a mouse and keyboard.
Give it a shot if you are using a gamepad.

Hi Catshark, sadly the only solution I found to this problem was using a different computer. I switched over to a 8 year old laptop and for what ever reason the problem went away. There must be something with the hard ware that just doesn't play nice with Stardew Valley. I tried any and all suggestions I could find on here, and on Steam and Reddit, and nothing made any difference.
