Hello c:

I'm Jade, I live in the UK & I've recently got back into SDV and play it exclusively on SteamDeck. I used to play Harvest Moon when I was little which I adored, and have played SDV off and on for a few years although never really stuck to it... Since getting my Deck after graduating, I decided to give it a go again and I'm loving it so far.

I find everything a little overwhelming, especially in the early stages (community centre, crops, fishing, farm building, tool upgrades etc...) so just for fun, I'm interested in hearing about your 'dailies' in game! What do you do?

I usually:
- harvest crops if needed & sell
- water all crops (only have 1 quality sprinkler so far!!)
- check out help wanted board/calendar
- visit Harvey and deliver coffee/chat (I love my nerdy man)
- raid every single bin in town for free food
- depending on luck/weather I will either fish or go to the mines
- visit community centre and try to add things to it
- depending on how much energy I have left I'll either forage some more or chop down some trees etc.

Interested to hear about your different routines! I've never made it past Year 2 so hopefully I don't burn myself out this time

Some things about me:

- I love cats, I have a ragdoll called Todd (named after the fox from Fox and the Hound, my favourite Disney film!)
- I love to read - I'm currently reading the 2nd book in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I'm also on 22 books read so far this year, with my original goal being 20 for the year!
- I love video games, my all time favourite is Baldur's Gate 3 (where my Gale girlies at??) , and some of my other favourites include FFXIV, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Sea of Stars. I also like Minecraft and Animal Crossing, however I kind of fell out of love with AC with the most recent game. Most recently I've been playing Brighter Shores.
- Baldur's Gate also got me into D&D - my first ever IRL game was in a castle!
- I occasionally draw
- I am also frequently on the Flight Rising forum where I pet and breed pretty pixelated dragons

I never realised there was a forum for SDV so I'm excited to dive in and get to know you all (and hopefully get to know the game a little better). As it stands, I'm currently half way through Summer in Y1. I have a long way to go as I don't even have any animals yet, but I'm hoping this will be my longest playthrough yet. See you around!

Hi Jade! Welcome to the forums 🤗
My name's Maude, I'm in Canada 🍁
I've been playing Stardew for a couple years now too, but only recently got HOOKED. I have 3 farms, one in Year 7 I think, one Year 2 and a new one where I'm 3/4 through Year 1 (which I started as soon as 1.6 came out for mobile & Switch.)

My "dailies" are:
Harvest & water crops
Pet/feed animals I have
Usually mining (to work on library collection and get ores to upgrade tools)
Depending on energy, I may skip mining and go fishing or work on some other thing for the community center
Throw some ores in my furnace
Go to bed (sometimes way too late!)

Switching between farms can be one way not to get burnt out. I also learned a lot from the one I was in longest... whether it be what happens in the "future" or what I want to get done sooner, or even just tips and tricks that make things less exhausting (take up less energy on the daily) so you can progress. Feel free to message me if you want some of my tips 😊

About me:
I'm a dog mama 🐾
I'm a spoonie and neurodivergent 🧠
I'm married 💍
I also love to read, but usually don't have the energy... Hunger Games is my favourite series 🏹
I'm an indie author 📚
And as you already know, a cozy gamer 🎮

Again, welcome! See ya around 💜

Hey Jade and welcome on in. I'm a much older SDV gamer, picked it up in 1.2 and played for a while but got distracted by other games and irl, but picked it up again just before or after the 1.4 drop, and have been a member of the forums ever since.

Dailies you say? Many people know this already but for any of our new forum residents, I like having a lot of wild trees on my farm, to the point where I'm more of a Forester than a farmer. I love getting the buffman shirt because it 1. Makes me laugh and 2. Look like a lumberjack. Pure silliness.

As for the actual dailies, I:
-water any crops I may have, I keep them to the minimum on a forested farm.
-check my orchards/mushroom cave
-pet n feed my critters, who are all free range and their respective buildings are scattered all over my little piece of forest
-water my cat
-put water in my cats bowl, bonus points if I can do these 2 at the same time.
e-check the forest and take out any trees that are ready for harvesting, and make room for more trees to grow. It's cyclic and really majestic to watch from my perspective. I have a thread I can link you to if you're interested, but sadly I lost that save file. :junimo:
-if I have any energy left, or if I skipped foresting for the day I'll likely go fishing or mining depending on my moods and needs.
-if it's a day I'll check the cart lady. Sometimes I get great deals on fruit trees there, but that requires knowing Pierres prices committed to memory

And as you can guess, I love cats as well. I can't wait to get another fur baby.

While not an avid reader, I have a giant collection of books, some of them quite rare. And I am also an amateur Tolkien scholar, and you'll be hard pressed to find someone who knows more about the lore of Middle Earth than myself. I love chatting about it tho.

As for games, I've always liked a small selection of good retro games. FF6 being one of my favs, but FF9 has an impressively deep story. Amongst many others. When I have a computer I'll often be found playing RimWorls and Factorio, as well as a small collection of strategy games, like Civ 5 and Dawn of War (40k). I've learned to be picky about what I play, which is one reason why I really appreciate SDV.

Funny you should mention DnD. I actually really deeply dislike pen n paper RPGs, but if I ever join someone's campaign, I make a joke character, just so I can hang out with my friends, and I never take the games seriously. That being said, I hear StarWars knights of the Old Republic is based off of the DnD system, and it's one of my fav RPGs.

I am not very artsy, but I have known to be a pretty creative writer at times, I just haven't had the time or motivation to do some actual writing lately, so I've been stockpiling inspiration, and if someone out there who is one of my friends wants to use it they can. However, my favorite medium to be artistic with is games, almost like machinema, but that's a reason why I like storytelling games like RimWorld so much.

And since we're talking about other forums, I am a moderator on a really well known 40k forum, revolving around the Tau Empire, my faction of choice. But I left that game a long time ago, because I disagreed with GWs business model, and I hated what they tried to turn out faction into, which really hurt the lore for no reason other than they weren't dark and gritty and evil enough for their universe. However, I still enjoy writing stories set in their universe, because it is a very dark and deep space fantasy universe, and the faction I chose was like one of the lights of hope in it, and while it lasted, those forums were very jovial and lively, and pretty much the entire forum would RP their character most of the time.

Anyways, I'm just out here living my best Linus life these days, and am looking forward to the day I can get back to doing the things I love

Howdy! I'm in the US, just got back into the game for the 1.6 update on Switch. Lost my save file when I replaced my Switch to OLED a few years back so I'm starting fresh! Loving the changes so far! Welcome!

Welcome Jade!

I've been playing on a newer save on mobile since the update, so I feel better equipped to answer this, as I normally play on a much older save on PC. In the early game I'll always water crops and pet any animals at the start of the day so I don't have to worry about that later in the day. After that I usually pick one thing to focus on for the day, whether that's cutting down trees and foraging in Cindersap, going to the mines, or fishing. I will check the bulletin board in town if I am passing by it, and if it's a quest I can reasonably completely I may change my task for the day to focus on that instead.

I'll try to donate items to the Community Center whenever I can, as the building is open at all times, and I can go there even at 10pm in game. For something like getting to Clint's to open geodes or upgrade a tool, or visiting the museum to donate an item, I'll try to go there as soon as I'm done with watering crops and then pick something else to complete later in the day.

One thing to keep in mind is that aside from things like the bulletin board requests, there are very few deadlines in the game, and anything you don't have time for one day, you can make an effort to complete the next day, or the day after that.
- I love to read - I'm currently reading the 2nd book in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I'm also on 22 books read so far this year, with my original goal being 20 for the year!
That's quite a few! I'm currently at 15 books read this year. And I am sure I would like them, but I have not gotten around to reading any of Brandon Sanderson's books yet.
also like Minecraft
One of my favorites! Although I imagine my profile picture gives that away.

Welcome!

I pet my animals and water my crops (nearly) every day, but otherwise I just do whatever. I'll go to the mines or run around delivering requests or cut down trees or fish, whatever strikes my fancy and seems helpful at the time. My farmer left the joja grind to live a more relaxing, fulfilling life, so I'm not going to stick to a strict schedule. If I notice that my morning chores are lasting past 10am, then I start changing my farm setup so I can finish up faster and get started on whatever else I want to do that day.
