yeah, the exploit of mining then retrieving a new one, I did the same though I did it just for novelty, If you use them you will regret it as it is definitely cheating.

Ah, this is clearly a cheating method, which ignites the emotional fire in the souls with competitive tendencies. With the shortcut you choose, you no longer need to feel the fatigue and struggle to find iridium to fulfill the sacred goal of mining. (ㆆ_ㆆ)

It's an inventory exploit; I believe you only get one statue for the entire farm in multiplayer. You fill your entire inventory so you can't automatically pick up more stuff, then hit your statue with a pickaxe. This pops the statue off the ground, but since you can't pick it up, the game leaves its state in a kind of limbo. Then move away out of range, open up a slot in your inventory, and click on the shrine to get another statue. You can repeat this as many times as you have patience for. (In my case, this is exactly zero times.)
