Golden scythe is not a weapon

Please make it so that with auto attack the golden scythe is not prioritized over almost every weapon just because of it's Crit power. I have a Templar's sword and the game insists on using the gold scythe to fight despite the fact that it' so obviously not better since i've died many times due to this

... Your suggestion is for the GAME DEVELOPERS to change THEIR game to satisfy your dissatisfaction with a mod you downloaded? How does this make sense at all to you?

To my knowledge IvyOblivious may have never used a mod.
I'm mobile and auto-attack is a vanilla option and I suffer the same problem.
I don't mod.

Yep, auto attack is the default on mobile, and as Ellajoy said there's no indication a mod was used. How about being decent/nice instead of being toxic for no good reason? Toxicity drives people away, being decent to others helps communities grow. Would be nice if the forum kept growing.

It is a bummer to have the auto-attack default to the scythe. The way around this issue for me is to always have my sword active (I usually play with a controller paired but would work without one paired too) and then I just use touch to tap on the mine rocks I want to break. That way, the game rapidly and automatically switches my current tool (sword) to the pickaxe only for breaking rocks then always auto-switches/defaults back to my sword when bad things attack. The other workaround you can try is to build a chest in one of the safe areas (that a villager wont walk over) and leave your scythe there when you go in the mine. It is not ideal, I agree that this should be fixed to default to strongest weapon.

I do think this is a mobile bug, it does pick the lame tool automatically otherwise, and in the worst possible places like skull cavern. I could almost swear the order of my slashing tools affects this too but I'd have to double check that.

Why do you take the scythe into the mine?

I have a chest at the entrance of the mine and skull cavern. Anything that is not needed for mining stays there, because I don't want to go through the hassle of losing stuff and I want the inventory space.

I agree that auto-attack has some weak points though. Sometimes, when the sword is not selected the character doesn't do anything as all, and it also annoys me that they won't stop and attack when they're attacked while walking.

That's neat! I was on the fence about mobile because that aspect of the game would be.... difficult, to say the least, but that's awesome!

As others pointed out though, yeah just don't take it to the mines lol. Plop a chest down like Ereo said, I do the same thing. Makes mining easier, especially in the early game when you don't have an upgraded pack lol. You don't have to run all the way back to the farm when your inventory is full, and you don't have to worry about missing out on valuable materials you find.

I love having my scythe with me in the mines. I am obsessed with collecting mixed seeds from weeds. Also I SUCK at confirming whether I even want to be on a level with weeds. I REALLY SUCK at picking up or leaving behind my tools as needed to leave room in my inventory. By the time I realise that I forgot something, I can only hope it’s in the main chest or I will spend the rest of the day hunting.

Otherwise I agree. I often wonder what is the point of auto-attack if the dame thinks “oh, you have zero tools selected so you must just want to stand and die.” I get stressed out trying to remember if I need to select a weapon for incoming monsters that I often de-select and cause unnecessary damage to myself.

I don't unless I forget.
Also the main time I had this problem was getting it because I died on the way back.

Oh, on a separate note, I store my scyth a lot of the time and just use my sword to cut weeds etc (it works too). Mostly I just use the scythe on the farm when doing large amounts of grass/weeds. The rest of the time it is eating up one less slot in my inventory and can't be auto-switched to at inconvenient times. Though I do tend to forget to put it back in its chest now and then still. Still, it is a good point that they should consider not defaulting to that as a weapon, so a worthwhile bug to fix. Thanks for posting it IvyOblivious! 🙂
