I’m also on mobile and have had random trees in town fall down. Not more sap than normal but still regular amount

In the 1.6 update, the trees in town were adjusted so you can't chop them down. To impliment this, the trees break down to the stump and then regrow as the unchoppable ones. That might be what's happening here, and the lag could be the result of all the trees you couldn't see on the map doing the same. I'm not on Switch but I imagine it would struggle a bit with that much to process in one map.

Ahhh... that explains why there's so many tree-falling noises the first day of my 1.6... to be honest I quite like it. It makes the valley feel more lively - and makes it seems like everyone else is doing cool stuff.
I kinda wish those sound effects keep going after the trees have all regrown back haha - maybe an occasion clink clang when I'm close to Clint's shop, or some semblance of beers clacking at night when I'm near the Salon. [The tree falling sounds] really enhanced my 1.6 experience at the beginning, and I am just now remembering them again after all this time.

I thought that was pretty cool, too!
Location specific ambiant sounds would be nice. You could hear the hammering sound coming from Robin's at random times when she's not working on your farm.

It's just a one off and in all reality I liked the ability to chop trees and do as we wish in the town

That being said I do agree with you about the ambiance, I would love hearing some more action in the town, or just more talking between the villagers that we occasionally glimpse. Would definitely help the town not feel so lonely.
