Game Console ?

I've been playing for about 3 years, mostly on mobile (YAAAYYYY MOBILE UPDATE!!!). I have a 7 year old grandson who plays Mario Karts and I want to get a game console so that I can play a multi-player game with him. What is the best game console to play Stardew Valley on?

[I don't know what console he has; I've texted to ask my son, but, well, he's 37 and I'm just his pain-in-the-ass mom and it takes awhile for him to reply]

Honestly a switch is probably the best, they are small, compact, pretty good quality, and run most of the games on them pretty well. You also won’t have the annoyance of a large machine and it can be used by itself too.

Only disadvantage is the controls really.

I hate playing on my PC because of the controls. Is the Switch better than the PC?

I mean there really isn’t a way to compare them, if I had to I would say pc is far superior in controls than anything else, primarily because games are usually made with computer players in mind and stardew was originally a pc game as well as superior controls overall regarding things like hotkeying, easier movement, etc.

You’ll only ever be using a console instead of a pc when you have both purely for the joy of playing console instead of pc and for console exclusive games.

You can even just buy controllers and hook them up to your pc and do that instead of splurging on a console with very limited versatility.

If it’s possible I would try to just get nice controllers and connect them to a computer. The only nice thing about the switch is being able to bring it around and between houses, for other consoles it’s just a bad computer with limited use that can play certain exclusive games.

I use an Xbox controller with my PC version, resorting to mouse and keyboard commands when I want to do something tricky. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

The thing is that I am trying to set up a multi player farm for my grandson and I to play on. Don't we have to be on the same kind of console to meet up online?

Yes, you have to have the same type to play together. There is no cross platform multiplayer.

You can play with him on computer if he (it hits parents have one), or you have to find out which console he has and than but the same (or similar).
