If you open the chest containing the golden pumpkin with a full inventory, the game will functionally freeze, regardless of what you do next. (Making space in your inventory or letting the pumpkin drop makes no difference.) Everything continues moving and you can open your inventory, but you can’t move. The text box with the message about the pumpkin doesn’t pop up, but I think the game thinks you’re looking at it. No amount of tapping around got me out unfortunately
In case it matters, I‘d only upgraded my inventory once.
