Fun "relaxing" challenges?

I know that the word relaxing and challenge sounds really weird next to each other. I'm looking to change around my gameplay a little, but not do something difficult like the 100 Days Challenge or fish up every single fish that you can, etc. I'm wanting something more fun, that's still technically a challenge, but I can maybe go my own pace. (If that makes sense).

Breed the main 6 colors of Slimes (ROYGBV)
Tailor a few different outfits to match your favorite Villagers, either the same or a complementary design
Replant a Forest at the Train Crossing
Get 10 Golden Coconuts (there are a number of ways to get them)
Pick a theme for a Shed, build and design it
Design a little shop area around some of the townsfolk like the Dwarf, Bookseller, Pam's Bus Stop, Krobus, etc.

I really nice encapsulating beginner challenge is to try and complete the community center in a year (or two years, or even by the second summer so you don't have to deal with the red cabbage messing with you).

I've found you can really make a challenge out of anything. Pick something you like in the game and focus on that, or try going entirely without your favourite part of the game and see how you fare. This could take the form of an animal challenge where you try to make most of your money from lots of animals, a fishing challenge, a challenge where you avoid planting crops, a challenge where you try to cook as much pizza as possible.

You can add some sort of natural end or goal to reach for like how many pizzas by year 2 or how long it takes you to make 1000 pizzas (very stuck on that example seemingly), but you could just as much not, and just play and enjoy having a rough guide for your journey rather than destination.

Have fun with it!

i have a few!! such as collecting all claw machine items, and fill an entire large shed with statues of infinite fortune...
or you can decide a theme and collect things accordingly (ie my alien room), then you can decorate a room with the results, it looks pretty nice and gives you a sense of achievement better:3

Lessee, a few I've enjoyed:

The No Watering Can Run: pretty basic. (Optionally, you are allowed to take it out of storage for the volcano dungeon.)
The Decorating Muse: Start with a random appearance. By the end of spring, decorate your house to match. On the last day of spring, buy something from the traveling cart (preferably a furniture or decoration) and by the end of summer, upgrade your house and decorate the new room to match. Repeat for autumn and winter. During Winter, the bonus challenge is to buy items from the traveling cart at the night market all three days and use all three for a single shed's theme. Remember to check Pierre's and Robin's often for appropriate wallpaper and furniture accessories!
The Rip Van Winkle Run: Speedrun the trash panda. Named due to the fact that you sleep in for two years which is kind of fun in and of itself.

And you can get surprising mileage out of "try a farm type you've never done before, try a spouse you've never married before, try some skills you've never tried before" and really lean into it. Like if I were to do a challenge run for myself right this second? I'd go Trapper instead of fisher and see how "quickly" (in a strictly casual sense of the term) I can literally cover a Riverlands or Beach farm with crab pots.

Two personal challenges I try to accomplish every game

1. Try to tailor every piece of wardrobe
2. Try to gift the villagers every loved and liked item. Especially Penny, since she likes all of the artifacts, which makes it basically a second museum run.

hmmmm I sense a slight bias in this recommendation....

(just kidding)
I am fully aware and very proud of my bias, I'm glad you noticed!

Unfortunately, I just noticed that some of my rabbits are producing off sync. The hay ran out at one point in the winter, so I think that got several of them out of cycle. This violates the extended terms of my personal challenge, so I will have to start over.

While uhhh, a little unethical...... you can always create a new coop without an autofeeder and put the little rule breaking rabbits in there for a night to resync them

Okay, that's a thought ... unfortunately, I don't know which rabbits were affected. As a chronic restarter who thinks I can absolutely make a better farm on the beach layout ANYWAY ... yeah, I'm doing a new farm.

you could of course empty your silo and starve them all to resync them.

I have each coop set up so three rabbits produce each day. I think redoing that might mean moving rabbits into and out of non-deluxe coops for several days. I could do that, but I'm already horrified that they missed a meal. No, far better to pretend this never happened.

Not really, if you just have no hay at all they'll equally starve

I don't think this will work at all though, animals like rabbits produce over multiple days of being fed, iirc they don't completely reset their production if they don't get fed so they'd stay desynced unless you specifically target them
yeah, I'm doing a new farm.
Seems a bit trivial to start a whole new farm on but good luck

Thanks! I had already been thinking that I wanted more pasture space, so I wanted to return to a beach farm. And believe me, I've started new save files for far more petty reasons. (In fact, I restarted twice because I didn't get work boots the first time.)

Beach farm is rather nice for animals, and fair enough, to each their own when playing
