PlayStation Freezing in Mines (co-op)

I’ve just started a new save with my wife for 1.6 on the PlayStation. We are playing split screen Co-op.

I’ve come across a couple of issues whilst in the mines.

Firstly the mines have frozen for me two times now. By frozen I mean that the enemies don’t move, the sword swing stays visible on the screen, rocks can be broken but debris is visible and nothing can be collected. On both occasions it has happened when my wife was fishing. It was remedied by leaving the mine and going back in.

Secondly, when I reached a chest floor in the mine, I was unable to open the chest. This seemed to be due to my wife being in a chest we had on the farm. When she closed the chest I was then able to open the reward chest in the mine.

Experiencing this as well. Doesn't seem to matter what other player is doing. Can't pick up dropped items or hit enemies more than once. Can still use the ladder to the next floor when it appears and pick up forageables, but not much else.

Same here, happened twice to us. We are split screen same console, couldn't pinpoint when it happened or what may have caused it. Might be worth saying we are on a fresh game, not an old save.

Same thing happening a lot on PS5 version. I dread going into the mines now because it happens almost every time.

This bug only seems to affect player 1. My partner and I spent the same amount of time in the mines, and while it happens to be at least once every time I visit the mines, it has never happened to my partner.

Me and my boyfriend are having this same issue in co-op impossible to kill monsters or pick anything up and the sword slashes stay on the screen. it happens to me as player 1 more often than him as the second player but it happens regardless of any used items.

Happens to my sister and I on the PS4.
Split screen co-op I am player 1. It seems like if I got to the mines it will freeze if she goes to the beach! It's really annoying and lame.

Same here, PS5 co-op. Extremely frustrating, happens VERY often.

I'm getting this bug on Switch pretty much every time I go into the mine (and every few levels when I'm in the Skull Cavern).

Temporary solution until it's fixed: stairways still work on these levels, and the following floor is generally not frozen (or, at least, seems no more likely to be frozen than any given level). Expensive in terms of stone, but makes the Cavern doable.

Yep, this is happening to me as well. It only happens to me, the host. If my partner is with me her side of the screen is still broken, but not as visually broken if that makes sense? She doesn't see all the visual "tears" I do when hitting rocks, etc. And enemies still kind of move for her, but barely. For me, the enemies are at a standstill and you can really only see about half of the enemy, enemies seem to be cut in half for me.

Also happening to me and my girlfriend when playing co-op. Exactly as others described it. Quite frustrating :(
We are playing on latest update on PS5.

This is still happening on PS5, I can imagine in other consoles too. I really hope there's a fix for it soon because it's quite frustrating 🙏

Also having this problem with co-op on switch. I've so far always been able to find a ladder to go down, and the next level has always been fixed again, but frustrating that I can't pick up any materials.

I believe this has mostly been patched but what i found that worked when playing with my wife (save file under my character) i always let her go down the ladder first. Not helpful if you mine separately but at least made it bearable to play. For some reason it never happened to her but happened to me almost every other time changing floors or going down ladders. As of the update like a week ago its been happening WAY less

Me and my wife have this problem aswell on split screen on ps5. Dosent matter if we mine together or alone. Every few levels it just freezes.

This is happening for us as well. Only player 1 is affected. Playstation says we are on latest.

UPDATE: We got it unbugged ... not sure what of the below actions did it:
  1. My wife (player 2) enterd the mines and came to my floor then left
  2. I left and entered floor 1
I could explore normally again. Even use the elevator. Will update if it happens again to test more.

Notes for dev:
  • Player 2 had already gotten to the bottom before I ever entered the mines
  • Immediately went to floor 140 vi elevator to get the star drop
  • I had not finished the inital quest for the guild.
