Switch Fossilized Spine help

I am wondering if anyone has experienced the same issue as I. The only artifact I am missing is the fossilized spine. Before I purchased the resort on Ginger Island there were usually artifact digs just about daily, sometimes more than one. Now that I have the resort I seem to never have artifact digs. Once a week maybe?

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Also, any other way to get the fossilized spine?

I believe it would be due to the massive loss of eligible tiles for the artefact spots to appear on. If you continue to get no luck you can also obtain the fossil by fishing in the river on the dig site. Hope this helps :)
