Fishing with a Mouse/Keyboard - help!

Hi folks -

This is my first post, so here goes...

I have been playing Stardew Valley for a few years now, and I love it. The only problem I have is that I use a keyboard and mouse method of playing the game, rather than a controller.

The main problem I have is that I cannot find any method of baiting my hook on my fishing pole, even when using the more advanced Iridium poles where there is a slot for both bait and lure. I have tried any combination of shift, control, Alt while attempting to move the bait on to the pole - you name it - nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions out there?

Have you tried right-clicking the fishing rod while holding bait to attach it.

To equip bait onto the rod you just pick up the bait and then right click the rod while holding it. If that still isn't working then try sending a video or a few images and we may be able to troubleshoot from there.

Also, if like me you are a doofus, you may be trying to right-click the rod while you're just out in the world. You need to open your inventory (with the esc key), select the bait, then right-click on the rod.

LadyOscar - Thanks for your suggestion about pushing the Esc key and then dropping the bait and lure on to the fishing pole.
