Fishing Minigame alternative

I'm new to this game and I may very well be doing this wrong so please someone correct me if I'm misunderstanding the minigame. I play on switch and when I start the fishing minigame I have to switch between holding Y and repeatedly tapping Y depending on the bar and where the fish is. The tapping is not joint friendly for me. I have rheumatoid arthritis and the repetitive motion of tapping causes a lot of pain in my hands. Is there an alternative for switch or a setting I am missing? An alternative mode would be great.

I can agree with that it would be nice to have some sort of accessibility option. I can think of a way for it to work but it would be less challenging. The existing challenge does seem fair once you figure it out. The fishing does get easier when you get a better pole and a higher fishing level. I don't play on my switch I play on ps4 and honestly The joycons and it's button are geared towards smaller hands so I wouldn't consider "going hard" on a game without using a more substantial controller. So I use a power A controller. It's not to expensive and it's a sturdy enough build I think I can recommend it.. Just thinking It is certainly more comfortable for my hands maybe that will help you out if your not using a larger or pro controller already. also maybe a controller with remappable buttons or a turbo may help so It not such a problem for you, A turbo controller that you can toggle the speed, as fishing on Sv can be more of a slow or steady tap. I know a lot of players struggle with the fishing I did at first to. But I think it is a solid mechanic. way better than some other games. for that reason and the fact it hasn't been changed already I don't think it will change. I know there are some mods on PC for easier fishing but that don't help with a nintendo switch problem. PC gaming in general comes with way more options to play how you want as well. Fishing in general can be a very small part of the game if you want it to be. even if you catch all the fish you want to have completion. On my game I caught all the fish, haven't fished in forever, nor do I want to. And I only spent way less than 3% of my gameplay doing it (out of almost 1000 hours). also you can play a multiplayer game have someone help you catch some fish so you fish even less. that's all I got best of luck:)
