Windows Fishing help!!

Hey! I literally just started playing the game a few days ago and I've run into an issue with the fishing minigame. Rather, it doesn't show up at all. I play on a laptop and have pressed the action key on both my mouse and keyboard (right click/X). I'm not sure if it's a bug or something, but I've tried multiple times in different locations of the map. Let me know if there is a way to troubleshoot, otherwise rip my ability to fish.

What happens if you press C?

are you waiting until you get the indicator (visual, audio, rumble) that you have a fish on the line before you reel in your catch?
