Just wanted to mention that this was originally a series of replies to a very old thread, I've separated them out into a new thread.

I think my favorite area of the game in terms of "atmosphere" would be the Secret Woods!

I can't decide between the sewers and the pirate cove, both are kind of only used once or twice and the most of the time forgotten but I love their ambiance and npcs a lot (both krobus and the pirates).

Think I agree with the Secret Woods. Feels like a unique area, and it was awesome the first time I discovered it. No other areas quite like that in the game.

Otherwise, I quite like the mountain lake area too. Cosy to fish there, and usually good foraging. Relaxing to hang out there.

Lame answer but the farm once you have a dedicated setup as pretty much nothing can beat what you've made yourself

Otherwise, something like the mines or skull cavern if you can lump all the floors together, or the large town map as a whole, especially if you look at it from a map screenshot and take into consideration how central it is to the game as a whole.
