Farm Computer Search Tool for Stored Inventory (Counts Total Items)

I play Stardew on Nintendo Switch, and I wanted to suggest a small but really helpful quality of life improvement for inventory management.

As farms grow over time, many of us end up with a lot of chests spread around different areas. It can be time consuming to open every single one just to check whether we have a particular item.

My idea is to let the Farm Computer perform a basic “item search” function. The player could type in the name of an item, and the Farm Computer would respond with:

“You currently own X of this item.”

It wouldn’t show which chest the items are in (to avoid making the feature overly complicated), and it wouldn’t pull items for you. It would simply confirm that the item exists in storage and how many you own. That’s it.

This would be especially helpful for console players, where accessing chests is slightly slower than on PC and we don’t have mods to help organize or locate items.

This feature would make the Farm Computer more useful, without changing game balance or storage mechanics. Just a simple organizational tool for players with established farms.

Thanks so much for reading, and thank you for the incredible game!

I mean that be a good feature. I'm sure a lot of folks struggle with remembering how much stuff they have spread across different sheds and there farmhouse.

Might be a little convoluted with a whole search function, and a preexisting, much less useful farm computer, but I could totally see something like this being implemented.

Honestly something akin to an editable journal (letting you put your own entries and write important info you know) might solve the same issue while being a little more natural.
