I need earth crystals in order to make mayonnaise makers. I have always picked these up in the mines levels 1 - 39. But now whenever I enter the mines there are no longer any earth crystals. At first I thought perhaps this was because I had completed one of Qi's jobs and the mines had not reset yet, but I waited until Tuesday of the following week and the mines had not changed. At some point in the game do the mines permanently change to this "advanced" stage and I will not be able to get earth crystals there any longer? Wiki says you can also get them from omni geodes so I opened about 50 or more of them and no earth crystals.

Is there an easy way to get these that I am overlooking? Or do I need to grind haunted skulls until I get the dozen or so that I want?

They do still appear in the mines, but they aren't common. They will also be in geodes and omni geodes, but again, most of the time you get other stuff

A crystalarium will pump them out pretty fast, under a day each, and this is likely to be the easiest way to get them.

Is the mine in the dangerous setting? You can take the elevator to floor 120 to switch that off again once you finish the quest.

If not, finding them is random and I usually find lots when I don't need them, but none when I want to expand my collection of mayo makers...

You can get them from duggies at a higher chance than haunted skulls and they're much easier to kill. The chance to get them from normal geodes is much better than from omnigeodes. If you go on a lucky day, you'll get more geodes.

Once you got one, go with what @One More Day said and use the crystalarium.

Thank you Ereo! I didn't know once I turned it on the dangerous setting it stayed there until I turned it off. Problem solved! Good to know.
