Does multiplay without split screen exist?

I'm trying to play this game in multiplayer mode but neither of us like the look of the split screen. Is it possible to have a multiplayer game where each player only sees their own screen?

Depends on the platform and how you are doing it, with one device obviously not unless it’s a pc with two individual control schemes.

Otherwise you need a device for each person.

We are playing PC, both through Steam. We both have copies of the game. First attempt to play together and every time I tried to start a multiplayer game it went to split screen. I guess my question is, is that normal? Or should we each see only our own screen and I’m doing something wrong?

Start through "co-op", and not through "new" or "load". This opens the game to the network.
