Me and my girlfriend are playing in co-op mode together and we're really enjoying the game, we're on year 5 now :). One thing that really takes away from our enjoyment is the random disconnects from the game I get, she hosts so she doesn't get them. We're on our college's Wi-Fi, so not the quickest but it's quite stable, and doesn't disconnect with any other activity including other online games, or in similar scenarios like multiplayer in Terraria. I thought it was our problem, that we were doing something wrong, but then I got my parents to play the game and they were also experiencing the same kinds of disconnects. The disconnects are rather frequent, maybe 1 disconnect every in-game day or 2. Sometimes it's as bad as 5 disconnects per in-game day, and sometimes it's good enough that we'll play for 3 hours IRL with no disconnects. We've
tried basically every combination of settings, we've tried me hosting, we've tried other things we've seen online, but no luck. It really sucks because we'll clear our inventory, stock up on bombs, save up our staircases, save up our luck food, wait till we have a day with really good luck, do all this preparation for the perfect run in the mines, then we'll get to level 80 and get 2 disconnects and then the whole dopamine hit we've been building to is ruined.
We've also experienced some bugs because of this disconnect:
- When we completed the community center I disconnected during the cutscene (another big reward ruined because of a DC), and when I rejoined, after waiting for the event, my character was gone and my screen was just showing the interior of the community center, I couldn't move, my character wasn't there. At the end of the day I figured I'd collapse and respawn at my house but I didn't. The next in-game day, I left the game, l let my girlfriend go to bed, and then the next day I joined back in and I was at my house.
- During the cutscene going to Ginger Island I disconnected, and when I joined back in I was able to walk through barriers, like normally if you walk up to the water you can't walk into it, but I was just walking around on the water like Jesus. Like I could walk right up the the fishing bubbles in the middle of the water and fish in them.
Please help and let me know if there's anything I can do on my end to make these disconnects not happen.
