Crystalarium Epic Item Question

Hello. I have several questions over how Crystalarium works in the board game. I get it in the action phase, and in the next season card we draw, there is a gift icon. According to the Crystalarium card, you place a mineral there during the planning phase. This means we don't get gold from this card for this gift event right? Also, in the planning phase, if we don't have any minerals, does that mean we can do nothing with it? Do we have to then try to get a mineral during the next action phase (and then place it in the planning phase that follows)? Thanks.

I think the answer to all questions is Yes (even though I don't have a direct quote from the designer).

Crystalarium: "Gift: Gain Gold equal to 2x the value of the Mineral on this card (Card holds 1 Mineral, placed during Planning phase)."

So the text in parentheses tells you how to place a Mineral "on this card": you do it during Planning phase. Furthermore, it is "placed", which implies it is placed by your farmer, necessarily from his or her inventory. Thinking about how the video game works this makes perfect sense. So yes, first it has to be "placed" and then the gift icon has to appear. If the gift icon appears before you had a chance to place a mineral, you're out of luck.

And if you don't have any minerals to place during a specific Planning phase, you miss out on the opportunity to do so on that Planning phase, but may do so in future Planning phases, if you get your hands on a mineral until then.
