Couple of Questions for Clarification

I played a solo game to learn the rules and get the hang of the gameplay. I ran into a couple of things I was confused about.

1. I ran into an event card that mentions that the lighting rod was hit twice. I couldn't find if that actually does something or it is just flavor.

2. On one of the friends the gift says to plant any 1 crop. So my understanding was that I don't have to pay for the crop and I could plant it on any season, including winter where you normally can't buy crops. Is this right?

1. You're probably talking about the Rain Totem. The Lightning Rod is a separate card (in the Foraging Upgrade deck) that gives the team 3 gold every time rain is on the season card. Therefore you'd get 6 cold from the Rain Totem!

2. Correct! There's a few different cards that would let you "plant" crops in Winter, including the Greenhouse, Mixed Seeds, and Seed Maker. This can be especially helpful if you need to complete a bundle calling for a certain season's crops.
