Switch Completely freezing after donating to the town center

Every time i donate a purple mushroom to the town center while holding another one to field research the game completely freezes time doesnt move and i can get into any menu or move i have restarted about four times and only freeze while holding the purple mushroom
(on nintendo switch, singleplayer, and in english)
