Ok so, I really need help with this. (putting it here because it includes mods)
I am on a 64-bit Windows 10 Laptop which is 4 years and 3 months old. I have purchased Stardew Valley on Steam, but whenever I try to run it, it won't launch. The only way I can get it to launch is by switching to the 32-bit compatibility mode (which I shouldn't have to do). I have tried EVERYTHING to fix the game not launching in regular mode, but so far nothing has worked. If you have ANY way of fixing it at all, plz help me :(
Anyways. Compatibility mode is not supported by SMAPI, which means I'm unable to download/make most types of mods. What I want to know is whether or not it's possible to download/create custom NPCs in compatibility mode by editing/creating the game's XNB files instead of using Content Patcher and JSON files. I have a tool that can convert XNB files to their respective file formats (PNG, YAML, TBIN, etc.), and then convert those back to XNB. Is it possible to create a custom NPC using this method?
And if not, PLEASE, is there any way to fix Stardew Valley not launching on Steam? (And also, if this is a known issue, would it be fixed if I bought the game on GOG instead?)
