Switch Clothing Disappeared After Dresser was Picked Up and Stored

I'm in Winter of year 3, and I picked up my dresser to redecorate and fully expand my house. After a few days (not able to revert to the previous days save) I placed the same dresser and all of my clothing was gone. I tried sleeping after placing the dresser and it did not revert back. Placing a new dresser had the same result. As I'm on Switch, most of the fixed i've read online are about reloading save data. I'm bummed as I had rare and random drop items along with all my crafted and collected rings. I don't expect any kind of restoration of my items but hoping there is a fix for the future. Thank you!

I am on Switch, v. 1.6.9.37. Single player and in English.
