At Haley's event she asks me to make a chocolate cake for tomorrow, but I don't have the recipe and it's autumn, what can I do?

Hi bambik0412 and Welcome to the Forums! Unfortunately you won't be able to make it as the recipe only becomes available in Winter. Assuming it's Fall Year 1, I guess there are downsides for speedrunning marrying Haley. However almost all 
events will wait until the requirements are met so you could do it next season after receiving the Chocolate Cake recipe.

What Lew says is true, the event will wait for you to have it. The thing not mentioned is that you don't have to make the cake. You just need it in inventory to trigger the event, so if you buy it from pig lady, or happen to have it in a chest, you should be able to trigger the event.

You can also try your luck with the Traveling Cart... sometimes they sell it. Or I know Community Center bundle has them as well?
