Android Chickens hearts won't go up

Hi, I hope I'm doing this right.

I'm playing on Android v1.6.15 build 24354 and my app is up to date according to Google Play Store

My chickens liked me at first but then the hearts disappeared and now I can't get it above half a heart. They have a heater in the coop and blue grass to eat. I pet them every day and the little heart appears when I pet them but it still never goes above half a heart. I tried shutting the coop door too because I read that can help but it didn't make any difference.

No idea how to upload my save file, sorry.

i got this of the wiki but you need to get hay (which you can buy from marnie or if you have a silo then you can cut hay and grab it out of the hay hopper) then if you hold the hay you can tapon the screen where the feeding bench tiles are(while holding hay) and it will put hay in the feeding bench as you can see in the picture
