I am not sure where else I could share this thought. I am non-binary, and am more femme presenting but i do not have boobs and prefer it that way. I know it may not seem like a big deal, and it’s not something that will stop me from playing the game. But it would be amazing if i could change between the body types despite gender! Ok thanks

I know it isn’t quite the same but in the wizards basement (you have to reach 4 friendship hearts with him first) but there is a shrine where you can change between male and female, your name, hairstyles and color, eye and skin color anytime for 500g. There are mods for non binary individuals at nexus mods, but you will need a pc to mod. For vanilla mode, for now, the shrine is the only other option. It has been discussed much here, you may wish to do a search for others petitioning for the non binary option and pronouns. There are many, many threads here and other forums to join in the discussion and petitioning for this option. Best wishes.

Their question was a little bit different than what's offered at the shrine (it is just a more limited version of character customization), however, your idea about mods is probably the best bet on finding what you need mmarcy3, there have been multiple ported to 1.6 already which I think fulfill what you want.

Hi mmarcy3 and Welcome to the Forums!

Perhaps the best vanilla-game option would be to choose whichever body type you prefer and wear one of the gender-neutral Shirt types. Many of the Shirts do not emphasize either of the binary body shapes and have a neutral presentation so you could try those and see which you like best.

You can sort by which are available at character creation to make a choice that fits you best without scrolling through all of them in the initial menu. Keeping like a dozen choices straight in my head is not something I do well so I need this Wiki page. Also it lets you know which Shirts are Unobtanium after Character creation, except that Sandy will eventually sell them. So if you like 2 of the Character-creation-only Shirts, pick your favorite and then visit Sandy every day as she rotates stock daily.

I agree - keeping body types and gender separate would be a great option. I would strongly suggest looking into mods. I've used some in the past to change gender/pronouns/title/etc with decent success. I won't recommend any in particular because I don't know what ones still work on the newest version. Another thing to keep in mind is the genders arent used much in the game, the sprites are very similar, and most clothes look about the same on both sprites. The main differences are some dialog (not much but enough to be annoying when it's wrong) and which spa changing room you can use. I played a game with a couple friends and one of them accidentally picked the wrong gender at creation - she thought she picked the boy but actually picked the girl - none of us even noticed for ages until she couldn't go in the right spa door.

I think it would be great to have the gender option, and then a good handful of unrelated body types. I know it would be a lot of work, but having short/tall/skinny/fat options would be great. I just want to play as a fat character sometimes, and it's tragic how few games allow that as an option.

The sprites are similar enough that without some scrutiny you'd be hard pressed to notice (they are also super small on the screen and pretty pixellated so those factors don't help either)

I would maybe try making a male and female farmer and at the character customization tailor it to as close as you can get to the ideal look, if it isn't possible, then definitely look for a mod but you'd be surprised at how much you have going for options in stardew.
