Change NPC Name?

I have a question, not a guide, so I’ll apologize in advance if this isn’t the right place for it.

I’ve been playing multiplayer (on Mac and PC) with a friend and one of the game's NPC's is their deadname (which I'm sure everyone can understand why I'm asking), which leads to them avoiding that character like the plague and generally never engaging in any events with them (not to mention never marrying them).

I was wondering if there was any way to change NPC names in multiplayer - or in singleplayer for them - so they can have a more enjoyable experience.

Certainly possible, but it'd probably be easier to test out a few mods that already attempt that.

I haven't tried this mod before, but I gave it a quick download.
And, while I can't guarantee it has perfect coverage; looking at its content file shows it to be very thorough.
However, it seems to only have proper support for the English language files at the moment.

But overall, it looks like it's worth checking out for what you'd like to accomplish.
