Change farm type/layout

I followed the savefile method of changing the farm type from river to forest. When I accessed the farm, the hardwood stumps that should have been in the forest farm were not there. Am I doing something wrong? Is it because it is winter?

Did you try waiting a day? I don't have any experience with farm type swapping but it might take until the next morning for them to spawn?

This is also true for most of things in Stardew Valley. Changes are evaluated at save, during the night, after the shipping screen, so if something is changed outside the game (like changing farm type, or loading a save from a previous version of the game), the new content will only become available on the next day.
