iOS Can't put hats on pets on mobile

Just started playing the game on my iPad (most recent update) and for whatever reason I can't put hats on my cat. I highlighted the item and walked over and interacted with my car but for whatever reason it won't accept the hat.

Is there a specific input or way to click that I'm just not realizing or is this a known bug?

I had no problem putting the hat on the cat, just selected in inventory and tapped on the cat. Getting it off was trickier, I had to switch to joystick control for that.

if you haven’t tried that, the joystick controls are usually a good solution when something doesn’t work with tap to move.

yes, not a real controller. Go to the settings and where it says tap to move, open the drop-down menu and switch to joystick + buttons. You might need to adjust where they appear on your screen.
