1.6 Update Cannot play co-op/splitscreen on mac

Hey guys, I’m a bit stuck here. My wife and I usually play Stardew Valley on two separate devices—she’s on a MacBook, and I’m on Xbox. She wanted us to play on her world, but when I connect the Xbox controller to her MacBook, it ends up controlling her character as well, almost like the game is reading the Xbox controller and the keyboard as the same input. Any ideas on how to fix this?

A quick Google suggested installing Universal Split Screen on the MacBook, or checking the multiplayer instructions on the wiki.
