That's one of the ones that frustrated me the most at the beginning, not knowing this one. It is key when you're trying to re-arrange your farm, though.
Another fun way, when playing solo and don't want to take all the time? Go to Robin's and ask her about moving buildings... then move buildings onto tilled soil. Then move them to where you want them. All the tilled soil will now be untilled.

Remember that the shipping bin can be moved and also works and is much better for small spots.

Keep in mind that you've got to be careful when using the pickaxe near crops. It will destroy Parsnips too!
