Solved Can not acquire tree seeds

When I cut down trees, they do dot drop seeds, only wood and sap. I can see seeds in the dirt which are dropped by nearby trees, but when I try picking them up, they simply disappear instead of adding to my inventory.
This is a new save made after the 1.5 update, day 5, single player. playing on MacOs 10.14.6. Steam shows the installed content release date: Dec 23, 2020 at 9:23 am.
I had the community center crashing problem before, but then I was playing with mods. So I tried uninstall mods, still crashes. Then I tried uninstall and reinstall the game, then I find that I can not acquire tree seeds in my new test save, which I made to check game still crash after clicking that junimo scroll. (Didn't crash after clicking with this save though.)

weirdly in my previous save which crashes in community center for the "rat problem", I had no problem with tree seeds at all.

Trees rarely drop seeds for me too, and it hasn't been a problem. Try using the hoe on the seeds in the ground otherwise it will just cease to exist.

Sorry guys turns out this is not a bug but a thing resulted from the skill level system in the game! Turns out that before you reach foraging skill level 1, you can not pick up seeds from the ground, and the chance that you get seeds from chopping trees is really small. I realized that after leveling up my foraging skills.

Even after leveling up foraging and getting the tree seed drop, the rate does "feel" lower than it used to be, though I didn't see it in the patch notes.
