iOS Can’t attach anything to rod

I’ve just recently started playing and have searched all over to see if there’s anything I could find but there is virtually no way to add anything to the pole that I can figure out on iOS. I know I have a pole that works because when I hold down on it it opens up the box with the description and I can see there’s a slot for it but as soon as I try to touch my bate or lure it closes the box. I’ve tried just stacking the two in my inventory bar as well but obviously that’s not going to work. There needs to be some kind of way to keep the box open to allow any other object to be placed in it.

Open the inventory, it doesn’t work in the normal bar.
Drag the bait over the fishing pole and let go.
you cannot unattach it, but you can replace it if you drag other bait on top of it.

later, when you have a fishing rod with two slots, tackle will work the same way. Lures/tackles go in another slot so if your rod only has one, you can only attach bait.
